Frequently asked questions:
There are often many issues, particularly with new rafters, which can easily be answered from this page. However, if you do not see the answer to your question, please refer to any of the people mentioned on the contacts page.
Question: I have noticed that there are two weirs in the race - how do we get the raft over them?
Answer: Yes, we have two weirs one at
Hampton Lucy and one at Alveston. They are both manned by qualified divers
who will help you and your raft over the weir.
Question: My son is 14 and a very good swimmer so could he go on a raft with my husband and his work mates as they are one man down?
Answer: To comply with our insurance demands we have to have a minimum age limit of 15, so we are afraid that he will have to wait another year until he can enter.
Question: Why do we have to raise sponsorship money when we have paid £7.50 to enter the race?
Answer: The entry fee is used to pay for the running costs of the race. It costs in excess of £2000 to put the race on and we have to pay for the services of all of the safety crews, communications, administration costs etc.
Question: Why do you pick a national charity to benefit from the race and not a local one?
Answer: As our rafters come from all over the country we feel it is only fair to have a charity that will benefit people from all over the country.
Question: How do we enter the race?
Answer: You can download the entry pack from the website and send it to our race secretary, David Dumper, whose address you will find in the pack.

Question: We are entering for the first time this year do you have any tips on building a raft?
Answer: We have raft specification
in the entry pack. If you would like any further advice on building you raft
please contact
Cliff, his details are on the website.
