The Race

The items on the navigation menu give you an idea of information available which covers the majority of aspects of the race.

However, this is not an event which we can put on in isolation and we need the assistance and goodwill from a large number of individuals and organisations. Here is a list of those essential people who assist us before the race and on the day:

2011 saw us especially helped by Newsline PR based in Leamington.  Their Director, Nigel Robinson, has taken some of his personal time to help us with press releases, PR strategy, setting up photo shoots and many more things, so, Nigel, a big thank you to you and your team at Newsline PR for all of your help - it is appreciated and we look forward to your helping us again in 2012.  Many other guys who help us particularly on the day include Warwickshire Police; Stratford Fire & Rescue; St John's Ambulance; Warwick Sub Aqua; South Worcs Sub Aqua & Lifeguards; Mr & Mrs Wardle (Start field); Birmingham, Leamington & Stratford Angling Clubs;  Upper Avon Navigation Trust; all the river bank landowners, including Charlecote Park, who let us have access to the river; Sutton Coldfield Sub Aqua;  Birmingham Lifeguards; Stratford Bowls Club; Newbold Sea Scouts; Mick Butler's RCV (Raft Collection Vehicle); Hughes Communications; Stratford District Council; Touchdown Cafe and last but very far from least our understanding partners and families. On the day a local photographer, Mike Simkiss, will be taking a lot of pictures of you at the start and at Hampton Lucy weir.  To check them out, and perhaps buy some, please go to www.yourraceday.co.uk where they can be seen in all your terror!  A big sorry if anyone has been inadvertently omitted from our list of thank yous.

You may have seen a film crew capturing the excitement of going down the river.  This was for a CBBC programme called 'All Over the Place' where two presenters raced down the course.  The programme is/was available on iPlayer at http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01bf42z/

22.12.2011

Some revisions to the website to update it with the charity selected for 2012.  Most of us know someone whose life has been affected by a stroke, but Different Strokes caters for the needs of younger stroke survivors.  More to come next year but in the meantime a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
