Safety

This is an aspect of the race which we take extremely seriously.  A full risk assessment is undertaken by one of our team who is fully trained in H & S matters and strictly adhered to. Download a copy of this year's risk assessment here.

Some of the points we make in our race conditions are purely safety related.  For example, we insist upon each rafter wearing a buoyancy aid; that all rafts have a length of rope attached to the rear so the divers can lower the raft down the weirs;

Although some of our requirements may seem pedantic, we shall continue to insist all rafters comply with them because we have not lost a participant in the 35 races we have run!

At each weir we have a team of divers and canoes whose only concern is your safe transit down the river.  They check the river our a couple of days before the race and have been with us for many years.  Their word is law!
